This is the Pakistan State Oil House building. It is one of the most beautiful and intrinsically fascinating buildings in Pakistan. In 1991 the building was completed and it was over saw by Yasmeen Lari. This building belongs to the leading oil company in Pakistan and is known as the PSO house in Pakistan. The building is centrally symmetrical and has glass going from the center up to the two sides. It looks amazing.

LIBRARY OF WENZHENG COLLEGE

This library was designed by Lu Wenyu, and I think it is absolutely crazy looking, but in a good way! It looks like it is about to roll over on you. The building is actually kind of old and was built in the year 2000. You can definitely tell she has some new, innovative, and wild ideas when it comes to deigning buildings. I love this Library and the way it looks.

One Canada Square

Office to Rent, One Canada Square, , E14 5AA - CBRE

One Canada Square (located in Canary Wharf, London) was completed and opened in August of 1991. The entire process of constructing this building resulted in this being one of the most controversial works which Cesar Pelli designed. The largest issue that with the creation of this building was that Olympia & York wished for this building to be in the style of the World Financial Center (also designed by Pelli) in New York. Pelli obliged and created a distinctly American building in London which many of the citizens were apposed to. Much of the challenge in construction was found in the fact that the building penetrated the permitted projection height of the flight obstruction area for the local airport which ultimately limited the permitted height of the building. Meant to be a bustling office building, the building was constructed and became the third largest skyscraper in London only to be left desolate due to the world recession at the time. The building faced a lot of criticism at its inception among which the most hurtful to Pelli was Prince Charles who publicly stated “I personally would go mad if I had to work in a place like that”. Since then, the building has seen a notable increase in popularity after being depicted across much of London’s media favorably and becoming a very prestigious office building that only select businesses operate out of.

Zaha Hadid: Heydar Aliyev Center

This is the Heydar Aliyev Center located in Baku, Azerbaijan. This building is used as an event space to celebrate the rich Azeri culture. The design of this building is breathtaking. The curved lines are captivating and unlike anything I have seen before. I love how complex the shape is, but it still is simplistic. This is one of my favorite buildings I have ever seen, it is definitely on my bucket list now.

Sevilla Tower (Spain)

The Sevilla tower is located (by no surprise) in Sevilla, Spain. The tower was originally called the Pelli tower after the architect who designed it, Cesar Pelli. What strikes me the most about this building is the fact that it provides a panoramic view and Sevilla. This tower is relatively young, construction started in 2008 and ended in 2015. This building is mostly office spaces but does include a 5-star hotel. One thing that sticks out to me about the tower is how the exterior skeleton is a reddish bronze color, and the sky reflecting off the glass makes it appear blue. These colors make for a very unique structure.

VIA Centro Plaza

The Centro Plaza is a transit facility in San Antonio that is more than a transit facility. Besides being a hub for increasing public transit, the plaza has lots of green space, an area for art exhibits, and preserve historic structures of the land. The idea in mind of this project was to enhance the surrounding areas for future development.

I like how the plaza’s design plan is to enhance the surrounding area because I think a project or system can be more valuable if it is complementary to its surroundings. Also, I think it will be essential to assess this transit hub as the need for better transit hubs seems to be becoming more common.

Taj mahal hotel, Karachi

The Taj Mahal Hotel built in Karachi, Pakistan, was architecturally designed by the first woman architect in Pakistan’s history. Yasmeen Lari, over saw the production and assembly of this building in 1981. It is one of the most famous hotels in Pakistan and has such an incredible design.

Stanford University Medical Center

The purpose of the Stanford University Medical Center design is to be a reliable and adaptable medical and research center for the next 100 years. This hospital is the holy grail of what future hospitals will gain influence. The hospital has lots of green space on its roof designed to help patients or workers get some fresh air or relax.

I like how the hospital includes turns the roofs into extra space for people to be outside. Instead of just a flat roof where there is no interest in going, there are things to make the place feel more lively. I also like how to build is designed to be adaptable and can withstand unpredictable things like a 500-year earthquake. I think buildings where complete destruction isn’t necessary to create something new, make it more valuable.
