Red banner Erich Mendelsohn

The Red Banner is a building that started construction in 1925 and was finished in 1926. One thing that is interesting about this building is that when Erich Mendelsohn developed this building and started construction he was the first foreign architect to create a design for the Soviet Union. The Red Banner is still used today.

Weizmann House Erich Mendelsohn

The Weizmann House was designed by Erich Mendelsohn and was designed to be the house of the first President of Israel. When Erich Mendelsohn designed this house he designed it to surround the staircase that is in the center of the house. I personally think the staircase is what makes this house unique.

Guangzhou International Finance Center

The Guangzhou International Finance Center designed by WilkinsonEyre is the twenty third tallest building in the world. It is located in Guangzhou, China and it is an absolute work of art.

Inside and out this building is truly remarkable. The level of detail and intent in the design demonstrates the quality that WilkinsonEyre delivers. The elegance that has been achieved while doing it in such a grand fashion is such a wonderful work of architecture.

Columbushaus Erich Mendelsohn

The Columbushaus is an office building that is nine stories tall that was built in 1932. This building was designed by Erich Mendelsohn. This building is very remarkable because the Columbushaus survived world war two. However, the Columbushaus sadly caught on fire in 1953. After the fire, the building was destroyed in 1957 because people were occupying it before the berlin wall was torn down.

Gardens by the Bay

The Gardens by the Bay is a WilkinsonEyre design located in Singapore and is such a display of creativity. They explain on their website that the design goal was to create an “architectural icon, a horticultural attraction and a showcase for sustainable technology at the heart of the Gardens at Bay South” and this was their response. I find it remarkable that such an ambitious design was actually constructed.

The aerial view is remarkable but the interior gardens are full of amazing scenery. The project is one of the biggest climate controlled glasshouses in the world and it is equally beautiful as it is impressive.

Lone mountain ranch house by Rick joy

Lone Mountain Ranch House

Rick Joy decided to take a completely different approach to a ranch style home with this modern style home. When I encounter houses on a ranch I tend to notice that they are typically older and come with little decorations around the house to give it character. This home by Joy screams 21st century/modern, almost as if it does not even belong in the location it is in. This home features a very open concept with large glass windows creating walls around the home. This home is something I would enjoy because tend to me more interested in modern/open concept homes and I like the thought of living on a lot of land some day. I give this house by Rick Joy a positive review.

18 Blackfriars

The 18 Blackfriars design by WilkinsonEyre is quite remarkable. The idea of an asymmetrical building with a consistent repetitive pattern is such a creative layout. The balconies and massive amount of glass create a space that is full of light and is spaced in a way that must create an interesting perspective.

This design is part of WilkinsonEyre’s redevelopment plan. It’s amazing that the animations and design description can create an idea of the building that is so immersive. The way that the building looks in the design animations from close up and from far away are such drastically different sights but both equally beautiful.

Einstein Tower Erich Mendelsohn

This building is called the Einstein Tower. It was created by Erich Mendelsohn which is a German architect. Einstein Tower is a fitting name because it was designed to be a research facility for the theory of relativity. The Einstein Tower is a beautiful tower that is interesting in the way it was designed. Erich Mendelsohn tried to create this building with concrete but was unable to do so. This building actually caused him to not create such unique structures for the rest of his career.

Villa Savoye, Poissy, France

A modern villa design by Le Corbusier in Paris, Villa Savoye, was one of the most simple, but truly modern works by Corbusier. This building is elevated on concrete columns, which holds up the large rectangular concrete living spaces, etc. This villa is massive and truly stands out in its atmosphere, surrounded by nature and greenery. The roof also serves as a porch/terrace with an outdoor living area, which is really interesting and important to a family home in such a pretty area. The large windows are also very attractive due to the amount of natural light that will be accessed on every side of the home.

Heidi weber museum

Before Le Corbusier passed, he designed one of his most remarkable works, the Heidi Weber Museum, in Switzerland. This structure was created mostly of black steel, accented with floor to ceiling windows and brightly painted wall panels. The building itself is created with several linear sheets of steel, that are set and cut at different straight angles and placed purposefully to accent the purpose of the museum, which is to act as a piece of art itself. The simplicity of the building combined with unique artistic details throughout is enough to grab the curiosity of anyone.
