joseph foucart-williams Hall Library

Williams Hall Library is a beautiful building built a long time ago by Joseph Foucart. He was used to designing the neat stores in down town Guthrie, but he really stepped out for this one. The big castle like areas of the library jump out at me. The windows are really freaky too in my opinion. This was one of his biggest projects and it was a big success.

Another one of Delk’s most famous works is La Quinta. It is a Spanish style mansion, so it is clear that this was one of Delk’s trademarks in his works. Delk won an Outstanding Architectural award for his La Quinta design. This building, like the Philbrook Villa is now a museum. I believe there could be little more gratifying things to an architect, than having your works immortalized as museums so they can be respected for decades or hopefully even centuries to come.

Joseph Foucart- de ford building

De Ford Building in Guthrie is very cool to me. The color scheme is consistent with the blue and cream and red brick and it looks great. There is a lot of character on top of this building with unique art forms at the tip top. This building is surrounded with great history and in some people’s eyes this building itself is great history.

At&t stadium – Arlington, texas

Top 10 NFL Stadiums to Visit - Living Out Loud Los Angeles ...
AT&T Stadium located in Arlington, Texas is home of the Dallas Cowboys and where OU battles for the Big 12 Championship. The meaning of the building is to provide structure for occupants to see the field from every angle, holding thousands of people as you can see in the picture above. When I encountered AT&T Stadium for the first time was in December of 2017, after the stadium was new and improved with a retractable roof and a beautiful layout. I remember going to the top floor where it was mainly people who didn’t have seats. It had huge windows that looked out and produced a good amount of natural light with exterior solar shading to keep the space cool. It was a good amount of space for people to spread out and sit down if they wanted to. The bathrooms were close so I don’t remember having to walk far to get anywhere/anything from where I stood with friends watching the game. I would definitely go back to AT&T Stadium.

Diagoon experimental Housing – herman Hertzberger

This housing experiment was created to challenge many stereotypes that exist in housing. Using units similar to his other buildings, Hertzberger created a housing plan where the occupants can decide themselves how to divide space and occupy it. Each unit can be partitioned off to create a new room or balcony, and the occupants are encouraged to experiment and create an indefinite amount of designs.

Bizzell Memorial Library

The Biz has played a huge role in my life ever since I started here as a student. I remember touring it before I decided to come here and thinking it was a really cool, old building. If only I knew how many grueling hours I would spend studying there lol. You can always find me cramming for tests last minute somewhere in the basement. I think that every student that has gone here probably has some horror story involving the Biz and some last-minute studying during finals week.

Joseph Foucart- Foucart Building

This building is evidently named after himself and it is a quaint little building. With gothic characteristics it really sticks out and the green window pane is classic small town downtown. I would love to go inside this building and see the layout and design. It even looks like there used to be roof activity on this building because of the railing on the shorter portion. This building is extremely unique.

Ventana canyon residence by Rick Joy

Ventana Canyon Residence – Studio Rick Joy

After researching Rick Joy’s work I quickly learned he has a theme for all of his creations. With Joy’s work you will typically find three main points. The first is the location. Usually his creations are isolated from others. Another theme is thick non-textured concrete walls that remind you of a fortress. Lastly, You will most always find open concepts with large glass windows to light up the room with natural light. The Ventana Canyon Residence pictured above once again fits his theme. I was quickly drawn to the concept of the long concrete eves with a wall of large glass windows. I personally love the layout and modernness. This is a dream home of mine, but I am sure that this would come with quite a hefty price tag.

Joseph Foucart- Victor block

I love how Joseph Foucart is from Guthrie, Oklahoma. I have seen all the buildings he has designed there. The Victor block is my favorite building of his in Guthrie. It gives off a very old school corner vibe and I love it. Truly a remarkable piece of work. I wish the small town where I come from had a downtown as pretty as Guthrie’s.

Philbrook Museum-Tulsa

The framework of the villa is steel. The walls are made of reinforced concrete. The roofs are made of Italian style tiles and stained glass is prevalent. The floors are furnished with fine wood, and marble and silk decorate the interior. Some parts of the ceiling have even been painting in a way that resembled the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Another interesting touch given to the landscape is the inclusion of a “rock garden”. The rocks located among the plants are there intentionally to help make for a more beautiful image.
