The E.V.E Earthship Village Ecologies by Micheal Reynolds are a new type of earthship. In this village, people can live, work, and grow their own foods. It also addresses the needs for usual permits so ecology can grow without the needs of these things. That was the meaning of this building on the world’s first sustainable testing site. I think this village is marvelous and I would love to go visit it someday. I have positive feelings towards it.
In 2019, Micheal Reynolds and his team went to Uruguay and built an four unit eco hotel for the community. He built one of his earth-ships with a concrete vaulted floor. This continues to amaze me the building’s material are reusable and they give some communities that have nothing somewhere to come and gather. The meaning of this building was to give some people a place to live and come to gather while also be eco-friendly. The building has a beautiful design and seems to work very well for the community. The community now has a place to teach spanish and english classes.
Micheal Reynolds built the first sustainable school in Latin America out of 60% recycled material. That is incredible. I think the meaning of this building was so that they would always have somewhere to go to school because the building can take care of itself with electricity. I think this is a positive influence on the future generations because it shows that it can be done and it is very useful. I think the building is very beautiful and will have great use in the future.
Michael Reynolds first house that he ever built was called the thumb house. His meaning for his first house was to use sustainable architecture, would rely on natural energy sources, and it would be feasible for someone with no construction background to be able to make. He did make all of these things come true. When I first saw this house I thought it was outdated, but it is from the 1970s, and that it was very unique. I think this is a great idea and I would love to see it someday in person.
This building’s meaning is the be the center of life on campus. I think that is lives up to this expectation. It is a recreational facility for all types of people to come together to mingle or gather or enjoy a meal. I encountered this in a positive way almost everyday. I usually come in to grab a bite to eat during class or to get something to drink. It also is a great place to study or hang out with friends. It is one of my favorite places to gather on campus. I love the Oklahoma Memorial Union.
Gallogly Hall is one of the newest part of campus because it joined in the fall of 2019. The meaning of this building was to encourage group learning through labs and other spacious rooms with lots of tables. I think it is wonderful and also follows the feel of campus with its Gothic style of architecture. When I encountered the building, I loved it. It is one of my favorite buildings on campus. I was in this building when I took a chemistry lab inside. I think it is great for collaboration and has nice new technological tools and large rooms.
Adams Tower is a central part of like on the University of Oklahoma campus. This building is a housing edition for incoming freshmen mostly with a Raisin Canes Chicken Fingers on the bottom floor. The meaning of the building is to house freshmen and it also follows the Gothic architectural style that the rest of the campus mostly supplies. When I encountered the building it was in a negative way. I had friends that lived in the building and the structure of the building is very outdated. All of the wings on the dorm are separated and each have their own individual elevator I find this very confusing and seems to discourage group settings.
The Bizzell Memorial Library is a building in the middle of the University of Oklahoma’s campus. This building is so fascinating to me because of its different aspects. On some of the floors the building seems somewhat dated but still very useful. However, on one of the floors it is a complete architectural change it is very modern with a coffee bar and lots of different areas to group up with other people. On the other hand, on the outside the building seems to me like a Gothic style of architecture. The different aspects of the building is what makes it the most fun to me. I think the meaning of the building was to be a large building for students, faculty, and the community to come and congregate and they have succeeded in that sense. It affects me in a positive way by allowing me to come and study in the nooks and rooms of this huge beautiful building.
