Palace of assembly- le corbusier

This palace is located in Chandigarh, India. This building looks like a serene place to reflect on life to me. This work looks a lot different from Le Corbusier other structures. This building is one of three complexes and is apart of the legislative complex. The green water next to the building is called an Azure pool. The pool is a place meant for reflection. I have noticed that in Le Corbusier’s structures he has an unconventional method when it comes to roofs. As you can see the concrete roof has a curve shape. One of the aesthetically pleasing aspects of this building is its symmetry.

Porsche Design tower

The Porsche Design Tower is a residential building located in Florida. I like this building because of its futuristic design. This 60 story building has a robotic parking garage for over 200 parking spots right outside of each unit. I think its a neat design you can live on the 30th floor and park your car right outside your unit. Also, this building was designed by the popular car manufacture company called Porsche. I definitely can see some similarities from their design of cars and this building, I found the correlation between the two interesting.

notre dame du haut – le corbusier

This was one of the first modern churches ever built. I find this structure very interesting because of the different sizes of each window on the side of the building. At first glance this building looks more like a museum, however the more I looked at it, I saw resemblance of what a church would have. For example, the stained glass windows and the extremely high ceilings. A neat thing about the windows is that they scatter colored light all across the room because of the stain. This church is located in Romchamp, France.

United nations headquarters – le corbusier

This rectangular structure is an important building where some of the most powerful world leaders meet. When you see the New York skyline this rectangular building sticks out. The architect was going for a bold look because this is a building of status. When world leaders come to New York City the purpose of the building was to be grand and owe inspiring. One of my most favorite parts of this building is the entrance because of all the flags surrounding it.

Chesapeake energy Arena

This is where the Oklahoma City Thunder play basketball. This building is important to me because i’m an avid Thunder fan. Growing up I used to go to every home game and it was such a fun experience. In fact, I remember even going to Thunder games when it was called the Ford Center, which is the same exact building with some renovations. I made so many memories in that arena and saw many of my favorite basketball players of all time. The building is nothing special compared to todays professional sports venues being built all across the country. However, anytime I step into Chesapeake even for a high school graduation, I relive my memories of going to games.

Toys “r” us

Some of my fondest childhood memories growing up were going to Toys”R”Us and picking out a toy, with my parents. This was very important to me at the time because it was sense of accomplishment. I was only allowed to pick a toy, when I was responsible. Another reason Toys “R” Us is a special place to me is because it was, also my first job back in 2015. This building holds more value to me because of all the memories I had in it. Sadly Toys “R” Us went out of business in 2018, and these building know longer exist.

Sydney opera house

I remember the first time I watched Finding Nemo, which was my favorite movie growing up. There was a scene in, which they showed the Sydney Opera House. I thought it was very interesting building and did not think it actually existed. Fast forward to 8 years when I went to Sydney, Australia to visit family and saw the Sydney Opera House. I thought that it was very cool to be visiting a real building from an animated movie, since i did not really think it existed.
