Fuller’s ambition of the Fly’s Eye Dome is his invention of an affordable and portable home of the future. The building has windows and openings for to be able to put in solar panels and a system of water collection. Fuller was keen to making his buildings be self sufficient in as many ways as possible. The idea came to life in 1965, however, he only was able to hand build three prototypes before his death in 1983. With this mere prototype inspired by a fly’s eye a 12 ft, 24ft, and 50ft prototype were built and now are owned by various people and companies.

I wish the Fly’s Eye Dome would have been able to go further into development because I believe it is a great self sufficient home design that would be helpful in the world live in today. In a growing world of increasing energy sufficiency Fuller’s architectural ideals would have been a great model for the future. Maybe even his dome style of creativity would have been adopted to a more modern style in this time.

The Fuller Dome is the one and only geodesic dome Fuller ever lived in. He was a resident from 1960-1971 as he taught at Southern Illinois University. This building was a direct dedication to Fullers legacy on the future of architecture. The dome kept to the prolific dome design that Fuller was most famous for and used similar dynamics that were used in his much larger builds. In my opinion this dome is much more inhabitable. It has a much sturdier build and the glass frames are nice as well

I love the idea that Fuller himself lived in a dome house due to his popular architecture style of dome-like builds. My favorite part is their understanding of the simplicity of the design much like how they have the dome right in front of the building in the second picture I have.

This original building of enclosed steel and and acrylic cells is an incredible 76 meters in diameter and 62 meters in height and classified as a class 1 dome. Complex system of shades were in place to control the internal temperature relating with the angles of the sunlight passing through. There are four themed platforms that visitors are welcome to visit and and was divided into seven levels even including an escalator. Montreal Biosphere has taken scenic part in a number of movies and stands as a part of the Biosphere Environment Museum.

This building is more aesthetically pleasing than anything for me. The use of different shapes and designs to build an ultimate design is very pleasing to my eyes. Obviously I am not the only one who thinks this considering this building has made multiple experiences in movies.

The dymaxion house is a combination of a dynamic, maximum, and tension styled house, given the name. Fuller created many different versions of this house including a few prototype houses and many houses indoor and outdoor. Although it carries the title of a house, no dymaxion house built by Fuller has ever been lived in. All versions of this house, however, was built with manufactured kits, placed together at the site, and intended for any environment with efficient resource use. Most of these styled houses used the dome styled roof as well.

These buildings are very interesting to me because I like how simple yet reliable they are. In addition to the fact of the house being extremely cost efficient while also able to used at full potential in any environment makes this house a staple of the design. I think it would even be cool if these were made as small outhouse like buildings that people can rent for trips.

This building is my very first experience of seeing professional basketball in person. This memory of my first time coming here to watch that game will forever be one of the greatest memories I will forever cherish. The first time I walked in the gym and stood at the top of the stairs to where I could see the entire arena as the players are warming up on the court. Every time I go to watch another game I make it a point to take a minute and just look around at the top of the stairs and take in the moment of how amazing it is. I can’t help but think how unbelievable it must be to play in an arena like this.

Yes this is indeed the entrance to my high school building. I know it may not look like the most extravagant high school but this very place has a special place in my heart. This is where I spent the majority of my life it seems like and I’m happy to say that is so because of all the great people I have met regarding this building. This building created a home and a sort of identity for me growing up as people always ask “where did you go to school?”. My answer will always be written in stone that I went to Berryhill. Now it is a little weird whenever I return to the school because of how much time of my life was spent here but even with that I can always call this place home.

The Oklahoma Aquarium brings many memories to mind whenever I even hear someone talking about it. The first time I ever came here was when my grandparents brought me because there was senior citizens discount going on. This ended up being the first of many times we would go there as I was instantly fascinated by everything about it. From that day on I have been increasingly fascinated by underwater wildlife and this building brings me face to face with that fascination. Whenever I walk inside this place I instantly think back to all the memories I’ve shared here with my grandparents when I was younger. I went here not too long ago with my niece and nephew just walking through the doors and seeing the first tank of fish probably gave me more excitement than the kids I was with.

This fitness center is essentially where I grew up from the time I was in middle school up until a senior in high school. Most of the time this building consisted of my friends and me coming here to play some pick up basketball or just get some shots up for some practice. In the summer we spent most of our afternoons here whether we were getting some practice in or using their weight room. This building alone has tons of good times and good memories for me and that’s for sure the most special thing about this building for me. To this day I still hang around Chandler Park some times and every time I see this building it gives me great nostalgia.

The image above is the lobby of the fitness center and not much time was really spent in this portion of the building. Only time my friends and I would spend time in here would be waiting for our parents to pick us up after we were finished. This building to me symbolizes an escape. I was able to come here to have fun and spend time with friends, a care free and stress free environment.
