The Grow hotel is an innovative hotel concept which is being developed to serve the business community in Sundbyberg and Solna municipalities. The building is in the shape of a chevron to emphasize the green setting for the hotel which embraces the nearby park behind the hotel. Keeping with the green theme, there is an outdoor patio and green roof that hotel guests can partake in or even go to the park that is nearby. The ground floor is mostly transparent which is very warm and welcoming.

The Patient hotel in Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet is a comfortable modern take on hospital visits. Designed for self sufficient patients who need medical attention but live far away and need accommodation to receive treatment, can lodge here rather than being stuck in a hospital.  The building was designed with a lot of open space such as an atria and balconies that are private for the patients as well as having a very warm and open theme. There is also parks and other city functions nearby should they be able to go to so that it’s not all just being stuck in a room.

The Royal Arena in Copenhagen was designed for international level sporting events and concerts. The project was inspired with the Scandinavian aesthetic as well as having a good neighbor policy in mind. The philosophy behind it was that since most arenas like this are outside the city limits, they purposely built the Royal Arena in the middle of the city. Therefore, a lot of thought was put into this building to not just having it being empty space but to figure out levels of congestion for big events. To achieve optimal flow for events, it was designed with a single podium that efficiently dictates the flow of spectators throughout the plazas, pockets and gathering areas. When big events not in use, the space can also be used for public use and gatherings.

The New Sydney Fish Market is an ambitious project that 3XN is building currently. As fishing is a big part of the economy and culture there, this port will elevate that experience and bring with its economic success from its tourism and from locals wishing to purchase. It is not fully designed and built yet as it is currently housed in a series of old warehouses and post-industrial buildings. The plan is to open the space while making the market experience as authentic as possible. There are also plans to separate the operation aspects of the market but still allow visitors to see mingle in the area and for tourists to observe or even partake and buy should they choose.

Venetian hotel in Las Vegas is a huge luxury hotel that many people likes to stay. When it first opened in 1999, it was considered as the most expensive resort in Vegas. Just like its name, the hotel used Venice, Italy, as its design inspiration so it features a lot of architectural replicas of Venetian landmarks. I have stayed in this hotel last year for a few days and made good memories. I never saw a hotel this big and long. The entrance was so beautiful at night, it made me feel excited when I first checked in. It felt like a casino, shopping mall and a hotel all combined. There were so many places to look around, I remember walking for a long time just in the hotel. They even had an indoor man made Venetian river! The hotel offered high quality surroundings, so I felt like I had to dress up nicely. If I have another chance to visit Vegas, I will definitely stay in the Venetian hotel again!

Xi’an is known for many historical buildings and one of the very famous building is the Wild Good Pagoda. It is a Buddhist pagoda and was built in year 652 during the Tang dynasty. The building was rebuilt and renovated over the next few dynasties though. It is currently seven stories tall. This pagoda is very well known for the start of Buddhism in China. A Buddhist monk, Xuanzang brought sutras and figurines of Buddha from India and translated to Chinese in this pagoda. I had the chance to go inside when I lived in Xi’an, China. The stairs were made of dark wood and was quite tall. It was tiring for me to walk all the way up to the top and I had to be more careful when I walked down the stairs. They have displayed the fake sutras and figurines in almost every floor. There were small windows on all four sides, so I was able to see the view although the windows were dirty. It was definitely nice to see and experience real ancient historical building, but the tickets were very over-priced. I would recommend people to not pay the ticket and enter the pagoda because there isn’t nothing amazing in my point of view. It’s better to see the pagoda from the outside.

Incheon International Airport is one of the top international airports in the world. It is very well known for its cleanliness and its architectural design. The airport is also the largest airport in South Korea. My parents were missionaries when I was a child, so we had to travel and live in various countries. So, I had visited this airport numerous times and for many times, it was thrilling and exciting. However, not every experience was great for me. There were times when I had to say good-bye to my family and friends. Getting separated from loved ones are one of the most terrible feelings to experience. Other than that, the airport itself gave positive vibes because it felt nice to be in there. I always loved the distinct smell of the airport and enjoyed watching people getting ready to go abroad. Everything looked clean and modern so I never felt too tired at that airport.

Deok Su Gung palace is one of the famous palaces in Seoul, Korea. It was built before Japan took over Korea but was immensely destroyed during the colonial period so now only one third of the palace remains. The palace is located in the middle of Seoul’s busiest downtown intersection. The moment you enter the palace, the sound of nature will surround your ears. It felt very nice to be separated from the busy hustling sound of the city. Deok Su Gung palace was the very first palace that infused both western and Korean style architectures. It looked quite odd to see a western architecture right next to the traditional Korean architecture. There were so many gardens around the palace so it was very peaceful and calm. The palace was surrounded by a long, elegant wall. Even the wall itself looked beautiful because it had a unique, Korean traditional design. Although the palace itself was stunning, I felt a little sad as I was looking around because the palace was temporarily used for royal families since they were forced to leave the main palace during the colonial era. Even this palace had to get mostly destroyed in the end. But I’m glad that I was still able to encounter one of the remaining of Korea’s historical palace.
