100 Eleventh Avenue

This is the 100 Eleventh Avenue building located in New York City, New York. This is a 23rd story residential tower designed by Jean Nouvel that is found on the intersection of 19th street and Eleventh Avenue. This building is one of the most technologically advanced curtain wall systems. Jean Nouvel also refers to West Chelsea masonry industrial architectural traditions. Nouvel also took inspiration from his Arab World Institute Building in Paris. The building was completed in 2010 and now houses hundred of people in New York City.

arab world institute

This is one of the more important buildings that Jean Nouvel designed. The Arab World Institute is an organization founded in Paris in 1980. The institution was created because of the lack of representation of the Arab in France. Jean Nouvel used a very sophisticated design that incorporates mainly windows. He also used enclosed balconies, which are mainly used in Islamic architecture. Within this building, Jean Nouvel managed to fit in a museum, library, auditorium, restaurant, offices, and several meeting rooms. All in all, this was one of the more sleek designs that Nouvel had.

Guthrie theater

This is a photo of the Guthrie Theater that is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The theater was originally built in 1963, but was rebuilt and redesigned in 2006 by Jean Nouvel. It is now a 285,000 square foot theater that has 3 theaters in the building. One of the things that is most unique about this theater is that it has a large bridge that connects the building to the Mississippi River. Another cool thing about the architecture of this theater is that the outside panels are all made up of different murals. Jean Nouvel really took his time in creating this one of one theater.

Jean Nouvel is a French architect born in 1945 that has designed many different buildings all across the world. One of his most famous architecture designs is the Torre Glories, formerly known as the Torre Agbar. It is a 38 story tall skyscraper located in Barcelona Spain that was finished in 2005. It is built to look like a geyser shooting into the air. It is the third tallest building in the city of Barcelona. This building is one that I find extremely interesting because I have never personally seen a building look similar to this. This just shows the imagination that Nouvel has.

Wrigley field

Behind the Scenes Chicago's Wrigley Field | Midwest Living

I have been to several baseball stadiums in my life, but Wrigley is by far my favorite. The rich history of Wrigley Field can be seen everywhere around. The stadium pops up out of nowhere in a Chicago suburb. I went for my birthday last summer with my mom and I still remember the exact feeling of seeing the stadium for the first time. Growing up in a household that were huge Cubs fans, I always heard them talk about the stadium and I always saw it on T.V., but nothing compared to the actual feeling of seeing the field and the ivy along the wall. The stadium’s seats and tunnel beneath the bleachers are old and historical. I cannot wait for the day that I can go back.

my house

This is my house that I have lived in ever since the beginning of my sophomore year. I have one roommate who I have known for years now. I have made many memories inside this house and I still remember the feeling the day we saw it. My friend and I were looking at houses really late into the Summer and we drove past this house with a sign outside saying “For Rent”, so we called and they gave us a tour 30 minutes later and that day, we signed the lease for the house.

Cotton Bowl Stadium is located in Dallas, TX. I went one time before I was a student at OU and I have been every year since I have been at OU. I still remember the first time I walked into the fair and saw the stadium I was amazed at just how awesome it was, in the middle of the entire fair. Then walking into the stadium and seeing the colors of crimson red and burnt orange split right down the middle was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. The two levels even all across with half OU fans and half Texas fans, I can truly say there is nothing like it. I could feel the tradition of the rivalry within the stadium. It is still to this day, my favorite sports stadium in the world.

Couch Tower

MA+ Architecture on Twitter: "Good news! The storm shelters, which double as student lounges, at OU Walker & Couch Towers are ready for the new school year. #oklaed… https://t.co/a3NtW720y7"

Couch tower is the dorm that I lived in my freshman year. I remember the day that I moved into the dorms, in room 921W. There were many nights spent in the study rooms finishing last minute assignments and many nights staying up late playing video games with my roommate in our dorm room. I remember feeling so excited to live there on move in date and I had one of the best years of my life while living there
