Jeanne Gang – Aqua Tower

Aqua Tower in Chicago, IL

Jeanne Gang design the Aqua Tower, built in 2010. The skyscraper stands 82 stories tall in Chicago, Illinois. It is a residential building, providing space for apartments, condominiums, and hotel rooms. The design is unique and pleasing. It combines columns, terraces, and “pools” of windows to give it the appearance of a creek. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the large green roof. It’s no wonder this sustainable, beautiful building won the Emporis Skyscraper of the year award in 2009.

Jeanne Gang – Solar Carve Tower

Solar Carve Tower in New York, NY

Built in 2019, Jeanne Gang’s Solar Carve Tower is a pioneer for sustainable architecture. The building’s unique shape allows it to efficiently use sunlight without increasing heat. This building not only limits the urban heat island effect, but also uses performance glass to insulate the interior. Gang’s innovative design is both attractive and eco-friendly.

Though under construction, Jeanne Gang’s Vista Tower is already a beautiful structure. Its unique tiered design will be home to five green roofs. It will also feature gradient glass, allowing for more insulation at higher altitudes. Much like Gang’s other residential structures, the Vista Tower focuses on sustainability in the form of green roofs and sunlight.

Jeanne Gang – Solstice on the Park

Solstice on the Park in Chicago, IL

Hyde Park Chicago, Illinois is home to Jeanne Gang’s Solstice on the Park, built in 2018. The residential building’s slanted windows were uniquely designed to efficiently use the sun. During the hot summer months when the sun is high, the slanted windows prevent direct sunlight from entering the building. During the cold winter months, the sun’s lower angle allows direct sunlight. This saves energy on both air condition in the summer and heating in the winter. It is clear that Jeanne Gang is concerned with excessive energy consumption is experimenting with unique designs to combat the issue.

Tom Love Innovation Hub

Interior of the Tom Love Innovation Hub in Norman, OK

To me, the Tom Love Innovation Hub represents hard work. I spent many nights here studying hard for tests, working on projects, and editing essays. The environment inside was very comfortable and energizing. It’s easy to get burnt out studying in the library or at home, but the Innovation Hub was like a breath of fresh air. Without this building I wouldn’t have had the same inspiration to study hard and succeed in school.

Minute Maid Park

Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX

Minute Maid Park fills me with memories of my hometown. As child, my grandparents would take me here to watch Astros games. I remember playing games at the Minute Maid Squeeze Play and eating ice cream out of little plastic baseball helmet. I remember watching my favorite player, Jeff Bagwell, hit a walk off home run. Most recently, I remember watching the Astros win a world series game in 2017. I have so many memories in this stadium and it will always be an important building to me.

BOK Tower

BOK Tower in Tulsa, OK

To me, the BOK center represents new beginnings. It was the location of my first internship. That internship was my first glance at my future. It provided me the opportunity to experience working in a corporate office. It also brought me to the city of Tulsa, which I will soon make my home. This building holds a special place in my heart will always remind me of that experience.

Michael F. Price College of Business

Michael F. Price College of Business building in Norman, OK

This building has played an important role in my life. It was the centerpiece of my academic career and the stepping stone to my professional career. I spent five years of my life in the Price College of business. I learned about every aspect of the business world. I made great friends in this building. In this building, I worked hard to get to the place I am today. At the time I just saw it a regular building full of regular classrooms. But as I approach the end of my time here at the University of Oklahoma, I realize that this building represents all of my successes in my academic career.
