Guangzhou International Finance Center- WilkinsonEyre

WilkinsonEyre designed a 440-meter tower in Guangzhou and it became one of China’s tallest buildings with its 103 stories. The development is a mixed-use with office space, a luxury hotel, and a high-end restaurant. What I found fascinating about the building is its retail loop that connects with the landscaped central axis and the details of the tower’s crystal form. At nighttime, you see mostly blue and I think it’s such a beautiful variety of blues that shadows the dark background of the sky and space. I feel like it’s a joy to work here as these workers get to see and appreciate the gorgeous architecture inside and outside the building. It was completed in 2010 and has been recognized for the engineering and landmark significance.

Barangaroo South Public Domain- GRANT ASSOCIATES

Barangaroo South Public Domain is located in Sydney, Australia and will attract thousands of people a day where enjoyment is found at the waterfront and more. This domain supports Barangaroo’s Indigenous and industrial history and has turned it into an urban masterpiece. I just love how simple yet complex the architecture is and I’m intrigued at the circular realm that allows visitors to sit altogether and enjoy the peaceful waters. The nighttime photos are my favorite as you can the skyscrapers and its nightlights nearby just extending the domain’s beauty. Grant Associates has outdone themselves again with this mixed-use waterfront development as they have given the city of Sydney a memorable identity by the time they finish in 2021.

Sentosa-Brani Master Plan- GRANT ASSOCIATES, WILKINSON EYRE

The design team of Grant Associates and Wilkinson Eyre are once again planning a new project in Singapore and to reinvent the islands of Sentosa and Palau Brani as their inspirations for the “island playground.” The project will be set within a biodiverse tropical landscape and will finish within the next 20 or 30 years as several phases roll out. The architectural landscape attraction will consist of forested ridges and coral reef sculptures as well as other natural features of the island and will include night-time entertainment and rejuvenated beaches. The project has set a goal to design in an authentic and environmentally sustainable ways. I believe it will be such an exciting development to Singapore as the country is now recognized for its beautiful architecture. The master plan already looks inviting and lively as it will bring people together to enjoy each other’s company as well as enjoy the stunning landscape and architecture that is offered. I can’t wait to see the finished work.

Gardens by the Bay – GRANT ASSOCIATES, WILKINSON EYRE

I’ve never seen anything like the works of Grant Associates and Wilkinson Eyre before. The architectural structures are stunning and mind-blowing that I can’t believe the project even exists and that beauty as this can be found. The tropical garden is located in the central region of Singapore and is filled with tree-like towers, shell-shaped greenhouses, and a 30-meter man-made waterfall. There are 18 large tree structures that are measured 50 meters and are studded with several types of plants and each one contains rainwater collection tanks and pumps. The inspiration comes from orchids and the design team’s masterplan is to form a rich fusion of nature, technology, and environmental management. The horticultural attraction has caught millions of both locals’ and international travelers’ attentions by presenting unusual plants in a dreamlike way through the talents of landscape architecture and architecture. I would love to visit this city of garden because I feel like it is a comforting and thrilling place to be.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon

Whenever my family and I visit Vietnam, we would always visit the stunning cathedral because of the building’s beauty and meaning. The building was constructed between 1863 and 1880 and is located in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is said that all of the building materials used to construct the massive church were imported from France and is designed by French architect Jules Bourard, who focused on religious architecture. It is to be the most fascinating cathedral in Vietnam where it is the religious center for 6.2 million Catholics in Vietnam. I’ve always been awed by the details centered towards the massive windows and symmetry work. I am not as religious as I was when I was younger, but I always feel a connection when I enter the doors of the cathedral because the architecture of the building gives it a vibrant and colorful ambiance whether you’re Catholic or not. I would feel contented and proud that this masterpiece is located in my birth country where Vietnam is not really known for its architecture but should be.

Vintage Park

Vintage Park was one of the first places I visited when my family and I moved to Houston, Texas. I’ve always loved the contemporary and complex design of the high-end shops and restaurants when my sister and I would walk around and explore the Italian-themed shops. I especially loved going there when it was sunny and warm out as I’ll sip on iced teas and become mesmerized at the Mediterranean architecture with its stone columns and clay tile roofs. There are palm trees and stone fountains studded everywhere at the lifestyle shopping center and it gives the complex buildings a vibrant look that sometimes remind me of Florida beaches. The park is about 324,000 square feet of ground space and then 24,000 square feet in second story space and the area is actually still developing so there is always more to explore. I would bring my friends here to hangout because it’s such a beautiful place to take pictures and we would dine at some of the best restaurants there and just have a great time. This is one of the places that I would highly recommend anyone who’s visiting in the Houston area because of its beautiful architecture and stirring entertainment.

Cain’s Ballroom

I can still remember the nights when my friends and I would wear pretty outfits to explore the trendy side of Tulsa. We would attend the small concerts being held at Cain’s Ballroom and make the most exciting memories beneath the neon light sign of the building. I remember every time we would stand in line and I would look around me and enjoy the historic built of the venue that has become lively and modern because of the Tulsans who come to have a great time. The architectural design is of late 19th and early 20th Century American Movements. It was built in 1924 as a garage and has caught the attention of thousands of music lovers since it became one of the top performance venues in the country. I just love how the building is smaller than most dance floors but it brings out just as much fun as the largest dance floor in the world. I felt happy every time I entered the rustic doors because I’m surrounded by the people I love and the music that I enjoy. If I could go back to Cain’s Ballroom by tomorrow, I would.

Delta Gamma – university of oklahoma

I was truly taken by my sorority’s house before I even connected with the girls. The built of the house is grand yet aesthetically calming because of the weather-beaten colors on the outside walls and the attractive landscape that makes the house look peaceful. The design is centered all things Delta Gamma from anchors, cream roses, bronze, pink, and blue. On my first day at the University of Oklahoma campus, I saw the Delta Gamma house and knew immediately which chapter I wanted to rush in as I felt I was home already. I was blessed to be accepted into the sisterhood a few months later and I can now say that my most treasured memories are all at the house. I would visit the building for excitement on a night out with my best friends and I would also visit to seek comfort on my worst days. The building is so close to campus that I would visit the house almost every day after classes to nap at a friend’s room, eat dinner with the girls, and have study sessions with the girls within my major. It is my second home. The three-story, white-framed house was renovated in 2013 and finished in 2017 and it is located on 744 Elm Ave.
