The XI

This awesome work of arty Ingels is two twin towers located in New York City with 247 condominiums, a 137-room Six Senses hotel, 90,000 square feet of retail space, art space, a spa and club. This was really thought through and definitely time put into the development and architecture of this building. The way it is shaped and the way the angle is just really blows my mind and one day I would really love to go visit it!

FKI Tower

FKI Tower, or Federation of Korean Industries Head Office Building, is a skyscraper in Seoul, South Korea that was designed by the architecture firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill. The building has a unique exterior wall that was designed specifically for this project that helps to reduce internal heating and cooling loads and collects energy through panels on the southeast and southwest faces. The building isn’t the most efficient one out there, but it does create a portion of its energy onsite.

I think that the building is kinda boring, to be honest. It just looks like any other skyscraper. It’s impressive being one of the tallest in Seoul, but it’s still just an energy efficient skyscraper.

The Lighthouse

Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the lighthouse in 1895. This building became the warehouse for the Glasgow Herald Building after being built but in 1999 it became a center for architecture and the arts in the buildings surrounding the lighthouse. The lighthouse features a spiral staircase to the top where there are windows that give a great view of Glasgow. There is a museum on the work done by Charles Rennie Mackintosh below and therefore is a main tourist attraction now in Glasgow.

Ingram Tea Room

Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the Ingram Tea Room in 1907. This room is a two-story oak paneled room with a very industrial look. This room was destroyed in 1971 when the building where it was located was destroyed. The design is now being rebuilt by V&A Dundee for a museum in Scotland due to the fact that they think that Mackintosh’s work should be seen by the people.

Maritime youth house

Also located in Copenhagen, Denmark this wonderful low built structure was created for children who needed outdoor play space. The resolution was an undulating surface which allowed docking space and a workshop for boats, covered by a deck that was usable for the children. This is a awesome structure with an awesome thought!

Hill House

Charles Rennie Mackintosh first designed the Hill House in 1904. This work is known as his most influential residential design. The design is very vernacular and geometric on the exterior. During the time that he would design these houses, he got a lot of criticism due to the fact he wanted to design the houses the way he wanted and not appeal to the residents he was designing for. The Hill House is still in Scotland today and renovated frequently so the people of Scotland can remember his legacy.

7132 Hotel (Therme Vals)

The Therme Vals | ArchiTravel

This is an exciting structure because it is out in the wilderness. It has a very modern look and is built over thermal springs, so you are completely immersed in nature. It has a very open concept and allows for much activity to take place. This structure is located in Vals, Switzerland.

Glasgow School of Art

Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the Glasgow School of Art in 1899. This is Mackintosh’s first design being completed just when he was 29. The building has a very industrial style and the outside really reflects the inside of the building. Although he designed this building and did most of the work regarding it, he is still not the recorded architect. This building is a very big influence in Mackintosh’s career and a lot of his following designs reflect this same style. This building is really what launched his architectural career

Omicron Monolith

This is one of Anna Heringer’s most simplistic architectural designs but also some of the most fun to experience in person. I used to be a huge fan of this type of architecture growing up. I still love the type of designs where the furniture blends in seamlessly with the ground and the walls, and it is just one flowing structure. The goal of this type of architecture is to create a high quality area that embraces craftsmanship and development. Some might say that this style of interior design and architecture is ugly or unnecessary, but I just think it is so cool to look at, and would love to incorporate this style into an area of one of the homes I am planning to build for myself when I am older.

8House

This unique house structure is another one of Ingels most famous works. This beautiful piece is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. All through out my life I have heard of this awesome home structure for several people. It caught my eye because of the unique way its structure is built. The way so many rooms are in this oddly shaped building just really blows my mind! it is awesome and a very unique piece of work.
