Hotel del Coronado

Hotel Del Coronado Reopens After First Closure in 132-Year History – NBC 7 San Diego

Hotel del Coronado is one the most distinguished and nicest hotels in all of San Diego. I went to this Hotel 3-4 times growing up and was always amazed by the look of the hotel. The cone of the Hotel is the most noticeable structure. The cone gives a seaside look, as the hotel is right on the beach. The Red and White of the building also gives a Ocean feel, as those colors are associated with beaches and the ocean. The Hotel is also designed to look like a wedding cake, and a ship which gives it a warming feel while you stay there. Overall, the architects created a fantastic hotel that allows guests to get a perfect seaside feel. I had never seen a hotel like this, and was blown away by the style of this hotel.

Reunion Tower

Reunion Tower in Dallas, Texas Journal: 150 page lined notebook/diary: Image, Cool: 9781533038760: Amazon.com: Books

Reunion Tower in Dallas, TX is one of the most famous and distinct buildings in the city of Dallas. I had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant in the top of reunion tower for a birthday in my early teens. The restaurant is located in the ball of the building at the very top of the structure. The ball of the building actually rotates around the building allowing you to enjoy all the different views of Dallas. I had a very positive experience visiting this building as I always thought it was the “coolest” building in my city. This experience also allowed me to gain a new perspective on the city of Dallas, as I was able to see incredible views of the city that I had not seen. In my opinion this building allows the Dallas skyline to be very unique, as most cites don’t have buildings that look like Reunion Tower. The design of the building leading up to the Ball is also very unique. The building below is very skinny and has holes, this makes the Ball stand out even more. I think they did this so people would notice the Ball, more than the infrastructure holding it.

Bizzell Memorial Library

Bizzell Memorial Library

The library on campus is probably my most favorite building on campus. I have many memories here since freshman year-long nights studying with friends having a great time, and having easy access to coffee. I’ve switched majors during my time here at the University of Oklahoma, so the buildings I attend for the class have majorly changed. The only thing that has remained constant in the four years I have been on campus has been Bizzell.

The library my favorite building on campus; it also contains my favorite room on campus, the great reading room. When I need to focus on a test completely, the great reading room is my go-to place to study. The absolute quiet is something that no other place on campus is capable of.

Price Tower

The Price Tower is located in Bartlesville Oklahoma and was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1952. This building was my introduction to his distinct design style. I can say honestly it was the first time I had really considered how architecture can make such an impression on you. Wright felt that the tower embodied a tree with a strong base and trunk and floors branching out from the core. Wright showed me with his work that he always wanted to incorporate nature with his design. The skyscraper does stick out but doesn’t over power like you think it would. Wrights approach was more how he can manipulate building materials to best suit the natural environment it will be in. With this approach you get creative new ways to emulate and expand on the characteristics of the buildings natural environment.

Seeing this building in person really peaked my intrest in Architecture and the Frank Lloyd Wright style in particular. I felt He was ahead of his time and pushed the limits on what people were willing to accept. He strived to have everything in his projects work together and fit the environment. Architect has a literal meaning of Cheif Builder which at one point meant controlling several aspects of a project far beyond design. Wright was a Cheif Builder and controlled most all aspects of his projects.

millennnium park

City of Chicago :: Cloud Gate in Millennium Park

In 2016, my mother and I took a trip to Chicago. One of the places we visited while we were there was Millennium Park. This park is one of the many attractions that draws tourists to Chicago. Within this park, there are many different attractions. Some examples are: The Great Lawn, Chase Promenade, the “Bean” and Boeing Galleries. The “Bean” is a staple to see if you are visiting Chicago.

The Crown Fountain is a staple piece to see if you are ever in town. Standing at 50 feet tall, built of glass that uses LED lights to display the digital videos. During the summer and warmer months, May through October, faces of locals are displayed and water is spewed out from their mouths. Yet another must see attraction.

Skydance Bridge — Butzer Architects and Urbanism

The Skydance Bridge, which opened in 2012, is one of Oklahoma’s staple pieces. Based off of the state bird, the Scissor Tail Fly Catcher. Standing at 197 ft. tall and 380 ft. long, it can be seen driving down I-40. It is also near the Oklahoma River.

The bridge is surrounded by a park named Scissortail Park, where plenty people of visit each day. The cool thing about the bridge is that pedestrians can walk freely across it. At night, the bridge is lit up in an array of different colors. Also, during the holidays or on a specific holiday, the bridge is lit up with colors associated for that occasion. This spot is also a great place to take pictures.

OU library named one of 'most stunning' | University of Oklahoma | normantranscript.com

When I came to OU, I was very fascinated by its architecture. The style was very traditional and represented a unique form compared to most college campuses. This was especially evident with the library. When I first saw this building, I was astonished by how it appeared and how exquisite its structure was. The building exemplified a strong yet anxious feeling. Likewise, I felt humbled because many people have walked through the same doors as me and how its traditional structure has primarily stayed intact since it was built. I found the library inside to represent the same feelings as I did looking from the outside. I felt overwhelmed yet relaxed simultaneously, and this is how I feel every time I walk into the library. It has such an internal effect and makes you appreciate great architecture when you see it.

La Tour Eiffel

No trip to France, let alone Paris, is complete without having seen the Eiffel Tower in person. It is somewhat surprising to come to the realization that it isn’t exceedingly large as it appears to be in pictures. There is a restaurant housed in the first level of the tower that i had the good fortune to be able to visit, but the spectacle was most definitely the tower itself. Seeing the bare metal of the tower and its patina rise magnificently above the streets of Paris was a moment i’ll never forget. As day turned to dusk, the lights of the tower illuminated it, making it even more beautiful than during the day. It is a gorgeous piece of history and artwork that i wish to return to see many times.

Casa Bonita (Denver)

I visited this famous restaurant while in Colorado with my family and I wasn’t expecting what was waiting for me inside. I like the tower with a clock and bell on the outside, which set it apart from the other shops sharing the strip mall space. It seems to hint that there is something exciting through its doors. When you enter, there is usually a line of people waiting to order. The wait is worth it though, and the low ceiling rises up and you find yourself in a little city.

The capacity of the restaurant is 1000 people, and the levels seems to rise and fall and go around corners. I spent nearly an hour just roaming around inside, looking at all the rocks and buildings they fit inside. I would definitely recommend this place for good food and exploration!

CHâteau de Peirrefonds

In Pierrefonds, France, i came across this absolutely monstrous castle perched atop a hill. It was the most peculiar thing because the smaller size of the town in no way indicated that it housed anything near the size of the Chateau. The second photo is when i first saw it from below, and the first was after my attempt to explore further. I walked around the entire castle gazing up at its gargantuan walls and towers; it sat much taller than any of the surrounding buildings. I was only able to walk around the perimeter of its walls because it was not open to be shown inside, but i could only imagine the wonders that were within. I had and have never seen another castle before, so it was something that excited me greatly; i hope to one day return to see the inside.
