I saw this building last summer while backpacking through Italy, and it was jaw dropping. This building to me showed power and strength because when you look at it, even though it is almost two thousand years old, it still looks strong and steady. I could not help but think as i walked through all the festivities and deaths that happened in this building along with all the other things that accrued after the gladiator arena was closed.

This past summer, I was lucky enough to secure an internship in Colorado Springs, which gave me the opportunity to live here, at Camelback Pointe. Obviously, it’s hard to complain about an apartment when you’re living in Colorado, but this place had a couple serious issues. For one, the unit assigned to me didn’t have a microwave. For the most part, this one is my fault for not doing more research before signing a lease, but all of the pictures on the website showed a microwave in the kitchen. The other big problem I had with this place had to do with the upkeep and maintenance, or rather the lack thereof, of the deteriorating building. Pictured below is a section of the stairs I walked up and down every day.

It’s easy to see that this is a problem, for obvious reasons. Given that my life flashed before my eyes nearly every time I walked down these stairs, it’s a miracle that no one has been seriously injured.

I could go on for hours about this apartment complex, but the truth is, between work and hiking, this building meant little more to me than a place to rest my head.

I grew up living in many states and cities and one of them was Tupelo Mississippi. A small town in Mississippi, there was not much to do. Having the birth home of Elvis Presley made Tupelo a tourist attraction. Seeing and visiting his home was really cool, just because to see where he grew up in a small house in a small town, made me think no matter where you’re from or where you live you can make it and be famous. Visiting Elvis Presley house has a special feeling to me.

Growing up and living a big chunk of my life in Texas, from living in Austin, Dallas and Houston, visiting the Alamo was an experience that I had to see. I thought it was really interesting going to San Antonio and seeing the Alamo. With all the history there it was super fascinating. The Alamo is a symbol for courage and that is what makes this place special for me.  

The White House, one of the most high achieving buildings to live in. Going on a tour there was just amazing. With James Hoban laying out the building and finishing in 1817 after a fire burned it down. President James Monroe was the first to live there after the fire. Touring the White is a once in a life experience considering living so far away. The White house is always busy and a bunch of people are running around all the time. I really enjoyed visiting the White House.

Making a trip to Dodger Stadium as a  seven year old, was an experience that I will never forget. Being a huge fan of baseball and considering this was my first game, Dodger Stadium was just breathtaking. With all the loud and crazy fans and having a beautiful view outside the stadium while sitting at the top. As I have only been twice I hope to return very soon to get that same feeling I got as a seven year old. 

This building is the Walker Center, a dormitory building on campus, and it is also the building that impressed me the most on Campus. This building was where I lived when I first arrived at OU, and it was also the first time I lived in the United States. It has a lot of positive effects on me, and it also leaves me with many memories. Here I met my roommates, they are all very friendly people. My friend and I will review the exam together in the study room in the Walker Center. We also go to the shop on the first floor to buy some snacks to share with each other. There is also a laundry room in the basement, and there is a place to print things on the first floor. It is no exaggeration to say that Walker Center has almost everything I need. It is very convenient and all kinds of facilities are also very good. Whenever I go back to the dormitory after school, I feel a sense of relaxation like when I get home. The reason why I like this building is first, it makes me feel at home, and secondly, it has many memories from when I first came to OU. Finally, it is indeed a multi-functional building, and it is very close to the gym or the restaurant, which is very convenient for us.
