Château de Chambord

By: Blayne Nichols

In 2015, my family went on a trip to France and Spain, I was 15 years old at the time. We visited this Château, It was stunning. It was one of the biggest buildings I have been in. In fact it was so big it made me feel like an ant. The Château has 426 rooms, 282 fireplaces and 77 staircases. It is one of the largest Châteaus in France. I was so young when I was there, I could not fathom the significance of a building like this. As a immature kid I took most of this experience for granted. I wish I could go back and actually appreciate it.

The Alamo

The Alamo located in downtown San Antonio, Texas

As a San Antonio resident I have visited the Alamo several times in my life. The Alamo has a rich history. It was once a cathedral, but is most known for its famous use as a fort during the Texas war for independence. The majority of the original structure no longer exists including all but a small section of the exterior outer wall. All that remains is the main building, which has been restored many times. Whenever family comes in town to visit, they always want to go see it. While it is definitely cool to visit for the first time, after dozens of visits to the same tourist attraction, the building begins to lose its luster. I think it is a very unique part of American history, but I would not be upset if I never had to go back.

At&t Stadium

This is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, however this building makes me think of a different team when I think of it. That team is Oklahoma Sooners. It was on December 2nd, 2017. It was the day of the big twelve championship. We were playing the Texas Christian University. We when on to win that game and advance to the semi finals, where we played Georgia. That game was not positive, but the win over the horny toads was. That building will always make me think of that experience I got to go to. I am also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan so of course I love this stadium anyway, but since I have yet been to a Cowboys game, for now I will always think of the Sooners when I see this place.

Chesapeake Enery Arena

The Chesapeake Energy Arena just before the Oklahoma NBA team the Thunder take to the court.

The Chesapeake Energy Arena is the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, an NBA team. The arena was originally known as the Ford Center from 2002-2010. This building made a lasting impact on me as it was the first place that I saw a professional sports team play when the New Orleans Hornets came to OKC following Hurricane Katrina. I attended many games while the Hornets where here in Oklahoma and became a season ticket holder when the Seattle SuperSonics relocated to OKC. I have spent many nights watching the stars of the Thunder such as Kevin Durant, Russel Westbrook, James Harden, and Serge Ibaka. Every time I drive by the arena I remember all of the events that I witnessed there from amazing wins to devastating losses. It truly is one of my favorite places to be in OKC because of the adrenaline of tens of thousands of fans cheering on one of the biggest symbols of Oklahoma to the rest of the United States. I can’t wait to go back to the arena to watch more in the coming years.

Cotton Bowl

This is the best stadium in the country and hosts the best rivalry of football. It’s the game of OU vs Texass. I have been going to this game since I was in elementary school. There is nothing like it and I truly am living my best life when I am here.

Chisholm High school

This is my high school in Enid, Oklahoma. We were a smaller school, 2A to be exact. This is our gym and this place is a positive place for me. The reason it is positive for me because of my last encounter with it. That day was my graduation. I loved my school and our graduation is a very traditional ceremony that I always dreamed about and when that day finally came in that gym is a day that I will never forget. It was probably the biggest milestone in my life at that point and that building made it truly special. I have yet to be back inside this building since that day, and I am sure when I return one of these days I will be filled with many feelings and memories.

Michael F. Price

This is where I do all my college classes at. We have a very love-hate relationship. It gets me very stressed when I go there for tests but I am glad I am in the business school. It also has a pretty nice walk up to it.

Cotton bowl

The Cotton Bowl is one of my favorite venues, I always have a good time here. It is also surrounded by the Texas State Fair, which is one of the most fun experiences of my college life. The feeling that I get walking into the cotton bowl is a rush of energy and excitement. Every time I am in the stadium for a game, I sit with about 5 to 10 of my closest friends. So whenever I think about this building, I think of friendship and excitement.

Edna’s

This is Edna’s. Every time we get back to town for the breaks, it is a great spot for a sort of reunion. It is a very positive place and great to catch up with people. It always will hold a special place in my heart.

Childhood home

I lived in my childhood home coincidently from age 0-18. I ended up moving out of that house right before I came to OU actually. My childhood home means everything to me as that was the place were I have some of my best memories. The layout of the house was perfect for my family. The master bed room was the only room downstairs and the three bedrooms upstairs was perfect for my brothers and I to stay. We had a decent sized backyard. Enough room to play football and soccer. The house was also located near a park that was in walking distance from the house making the location even better. The house has a very common look compared to most houses today. Which I appreciated because I like the style of traditional houses anyway.
